Justice - Directly related to Media Mayhem?
But all is not lost, right from Jessica Lal to the poor girl who was raped and killed by an advocate to the guy who was bumped off because he was dating a politician's daughter to this, each of these cases have had justice meted out.
There are two factors though. One each of these cases have had a heavy media support. Jessica Lal's case was a classic example. It was almost like the the judiciary did not have a choice.Second, is the sheer time it has taken for justice to be served. It does not take a rocket scientiest to find evidence for the fact that a model was killed in front of a lot of people for just refusing to serve a drink, or to convict a guy who just did a bad reverse killing 6 people. What this clearly means is money and power plays a big role and there is obstruction of justice interms of obliterating evidence.
As much happy as I am that the bereaved have at least obtained closure and can finally put this behind them and move on and that it seems after 61 years that we can begin to trust out judiciary, it is scary that such heavy media interferance is needed for justice. Justice that is promised to the common man by virtue of a democracy.
It is not just Manu Sharma's and Sanjeev Nanda's who need conviction, it is also the tens of policemen lawyers, judges and middle men who played a meaty role in destruction of evidence and obstruction of justice who need to punished. That would be sending a clear signal. Until then its going to take another zillion years for Salman Khan to get a conviction.
